Yalu Jailbreak iOS 10 and iOS 10.1.1

Yalu Jailbreak for iOS 10 – iOS 10.1.1 from Luca Todesco

When we first reported the Yalu jailbreak for iOS 10 – iOS 10.1.1 from Luca Todesco, we mentioned that this was a beta version. With that comes all the bugs and risks typically seen on a beta version of any piece of software. However, a lot of jailbreak fans went ahead and downloaded the IPA file anyway, and now they’re facing a range of issues.

In case you aren’t one of them or have managed to reverse the jailbreak, please read this article to find out more about the prerequisites for this iOS 10 – iOS 10.1.1 jailbreak from Todesco. After that, we’ve shown the steps required to do the jailbreak.

First of all, here are the lists of compatible devices and iOS versions:

iPhone 6s / iPhone 6S Plus / iPad Pro / iPhone 7 / iPhone 7 Plus running iOS 10.0.1, iOS 10.0.2, iOS 10.0.3, iOS 10.1 or iOS 10.1.1. This jailbreak will not work for any other device, nor one that runs any other iOS version.

Second, you must be a registered Apple Developer and have Xcode installed on your Mac.

Third, your computer must be running the latest version of iTunes, which is currently iTunes 12.5.4 for macOS. If you don’t, please update to that version before proceeding.

Fourth, you will need to backup your device data using iTunes or iCloud.

Fifth, you need to disable TouchID, Passcode and Find My Phone. You can re-activate these after the jailbreak.

Finally, you need to download the Yalu Jailbreak IPA file to your computer. You also need the Cydia Impactor app. Here’s the page for download links; make sure you choose the appropriate operating system.

Once these six steps are complete, you may begin the jailbreak. Here’s how…

How to Do the Yalu iOS 10.1 – iOS 10.1.1 Jailbreak

Step 1: Connect your device to your computer using a USB cable.

Step 2: Open the Cydia Impactor application and drag-and-drop the IPA file.

Step 3: Enter your Apple ID and password when Cydia Impactor asks you for it

Step 4: Cydia Impactor should now begin signing the Yalu IPA. Once done, you should be able to see the Mach Portal icon on your device.

Step 5: Next, go to Settings -> General -> Profiles & Device Management and trust the app by clicking on it.

Step 6: Now go back to your home screen, find the Yalu/Mach_Portal icon and click on it. Then wait for the jailbreak to install Cydia. Your device will automatically reboot, after which you should be able to see the Cydia app alongside the Yalu jailbreak icon.

NOTE: This is a semi-untethered jailbreak, so you will need to jailbreak the device every time you reboot. However, you won’t need to tether it to your computer each time…simply click on the mach_portal icon to jailbreak it after the first time.

Also, Cydia will be fully functional but not stable, and MobileSubstrate doesn’t work. You need to know how to gain access to iOS system root to place any other component. A stable version of this iOS 10 – iOS 10.1.1 jailbreak is expected to be released soon.
